Crunchy Baked Potato Sticks

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 large russet potatoes
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse and scrub the potatoes thoroughly, then peel them if desired. Cut the potatoes into thin, uniform sticks, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
Place the potato sticks in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
In a mixing bowl, combine the dried potato sticks with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the sticks are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
Arrange the seasoned potato sticks in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the sticks halfway through the baking time, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Once baked, remove the potato sticks from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
