•Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-2 jalapeños, seeded and finely diced (adjust according to your spice preference)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for additional heat)

•Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

Add the softened butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix until well combined and a dough forms.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until smooth.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness using a rolling pin.

Use cookie cutters or a sharp knife to cut the dough into desired shapes.

Place the cutouts onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Allow the shortbread crackers to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
