•Ingredients for Cheddar Cheese Scones:

1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 cup buttermilk

Ingredients for Chive Butter:

2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
Add the cubed cold butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
Gradually pour in the buttermilk, stirring until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it forms a cohesive ball.
Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Use a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter to cut the dough into wedges or rounds.
Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
While the scones are baking, prepare the chive butter by mixing together the softened butter, chopped chives, and salt until well combined.
Once the scones are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
Serve the warm cheddar cheese scones with a dollop of chive butter on top, and enjoy!
